Did you know, there are approximately 1 in every 100 people diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder today? 80% of the adult autistic population are unemployed. A further 10% do not have “meaningful” employment.
It is a fundamental basic need in order to reach our self actualization to have meaningful employment. This gives us a sense of belonging, a sense of worth, a sense of empowerment. It means so much to people on so many levels and is something we all look for. A fulfillment of our talents and potentialities.
Organizations who employ members of the autistic community have reported better productivity, better teamwork ethics, less absenteeism and a happier workforce culture. So why are there so many autistic people still unemployed or under employed?
