Sensory activity

So, here’s a sensory activity you can do with your kids, at home, in a creche or in school, or if you support someone with Autism (although you need to know if having dirty hands will cause them distress first!).

Paint the child’s hands using a soft can talk to them about colors, texture and how it feels on their hands and how it feels to have someone else paint them. When their hands are painted, let them press them onto paper or card so they can see their hand prints.

We did this today as part of the kids collages ready for their graduation.

In your observations you can link this activity to the Aistear themes, Identity and Belonging and Communication.
